Since the it can block everything out of the pool, it would also mean that everything it blocks out will keep accumulating on it. If not cleaned off regularly, all these debris will become too heavy for the cover to support and may cause the it to rip or collapse, sending all those debris straight into the pool. Cleaning the top of the cover will entail additional maintenance work for the pool owner. This can be quite tiresome and time consuming. If you cannot allot the time to spend in cleaning the cover, then it would be better to get a different type of cover.
Above ground pool covers can serve as a temperature booster in a few different ways. Initially, they act somewhat like a blanket on a cold night. They keep the cold air away from the pool and they do not let the warmth already in the water escape. Additionally, some covers are specifically designed to transform sunlight into a means by which you can heat the pool. These solar covers allow warm air to penetrate the cover and to work its magic in the water. They are designed to trap the warm air under the cover.
Solar pool covers can save up to 97% of water evaporation loss. This then greatly reduces the need to top up the pool during the course of the year. This means that the pool owner is not drawing water from the city supply or harvested rain water stored in tanks to top up water lost through evaporation. A leaf and debris cover’s ability to reduce evaporation is less than that of a solar blanket but still significant. In both cases, the cover’s ability to stop or greatly reduce evaporation is a great benefit to the environment and preserving our natural water asset.
