No longer do the tracks have to be mounted to the underside of the pool coping. The new standard in the industry is to mount a receiver piece (encapsulation) on the pool bond beam before the coping is installed. This receiver then accepts the track and is held in place by a marriage groove after a plastic shim is inserted. This method has two main benefits. The first is the elimination of tracks pulling loose from the coping. The second allows for thinner and less dense coping stones. Using this type of encapsulated track allows for a pool in pool design as well. The swimming pool can be of freeform design but with the benefit of a below deck and hidden pool cover system. The outside perimeter of the swimming pool remains rectangular with a step-down onto the lower deck surface around the swimming pool. In effect, you have a picture frame around your pool.
Solar blanket covers are also very good at providing and preserving warmth in the swimming pool. Depending on how much sunshine the pool receives during the day, a solar blanket cover can increase the pool temperature by up to 8 degrees celsius. A good habit to have is to make sure the cover is on the pool each night so that it captures the warmth provided during the day. By doing this the pool starts the next day at a higher base temperature than it would have had if there was no cover.
When your winter pool cover fits properly, spring or summer openings will obviously go more smoothly. Tightly fitting covers prevent dirt, leaves and other debris from accumulating in and dirtying the water. This means that you will need to do less vacuuming and water straining once the winter is over. Best of all, a cleaner pool as a result of a good winter cover will mean that you can get back to swimming faster when the warmer weather arrives.
